Ocho was inspired by Ojo con los Orozco, a popular song by Argentine singer-songwriter León Gieco. Known for its playful monovocalic lyrics, the song portrays the adventures of the fictional Orozco family through a linguistic constraint. Rather than quoting Gieco's music, Ocho reimagines its inventive spirit. The trombone quartet and electronics combine to create an eight-part texture that blends rhythmic and timbral elements of jazz and hip-hop with fragments of Argentine slang embedded in the electronic layer. The result is a work in which acoustic and electronic sounds interact as equal voices, exploring the intersection of language, groove, and texture.
